A short biography of Alec

Alec was commissioned into ministry at Hurstville Church of Christ on Sunday 6 March 2016.

Having grown up on a hill country farm in New Zealand, Sydney is very different to what I was used to when my wife Jasmine and I moved here almost ten years ago. We chose Sydney so I could study at Sydney Missionary and Bible College and so Jasmine could teach Chinese and Japanese at a local Christian school. New Zealand installed in me a passion for the outdoors, so I love rugby, exploring different countries, hiking in the mountains, and driving on roads I have never been on before. When I am not outside I enjoy board games, movies/tv series, and spending time with family and friends.

I started following Jesus as a child because my Grandad demonstrated what it means to have faith in an amazing God. The call to follow Jesus has led to me serving in different ministries where I have seen God’s power and love displayed in my life and the lives of others. These ministries include Sunday school, youth ministry, sports ministry, a missions agency, children’s camps and, most recently, as a pastor to the English congregation of a Chinese church.

It is such a blessing and privilege to be a pastor, and serving at Hurstville Church of Christ presents many opportunities to minister in the urban and growing suburb of Hurstville. I love how our church is filled with faithful believers who see the need to share God’s love with those in our diverse community.

I invite you to come to our church and be a part of God’s people worshipping together.
